Abstract
Nanoparticles are being used for the treatment of many diseases due to their antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial and antioxidant activity. Present research was carried out to analyze the antibacterial, antioxidant and antifungal potential of Cr doped manganese oxide nanoparticles. For the synthesis of nanoparticles sol-gel method was used because it is easy and inexpensive. Klebsiella pneumonia was used against seven antibiotics. Antibacterial activity of nanoparticles with different concentrations (0.025, 0.05, 0.075, and 0.1) was tested against E.coli and Bacillus subtilis and Ciprofloxacin was applied as positive control. In Bacillus subtilis, the largest zone of inhibition was seen at doses of 0.1, and there was no zone of inhibition at 0.025 and 0.05. The zone of inhibition was present in E. coli at doses of 0.025, 0.075, and 0.1, with a maximum at 0.05. Ciprofloxacin showed the maximum zone of inhibition against both Bacillus subtilis and E.coli as compared to nanoparticles. Antifungal potential of the prepared nanoparticles was assessed against Fusarium equesiti and Rhizopus stolenifer. The activity was assessed on 3rd, 5th and 7th day. The development of Rhizopus stolenifer was not affected by the antifungal properties of Cr doped manganese oxide nanoparticles. It began to expand on the third day and continued to grow the same on days five and seven. The findings of the antioxidant activity test shows that ascorbic acid and Cr oxide NPs both exhibit antioxidant activity. Ascorbic acid has 83% antioxidant activity at the same concentration as Cr oxide NPs, which has maximal antioxidant activity of 99%. The minimum antioxidant activity of the test sample is 89% at 0.1 concentrations. The results of antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant activity proved that the Cr doped manganese oxide can be used as antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant drug.
