Abstract
The majority of population deal with neck pain at some time in their life; 67% people had it at some point, and 50%-85% of people had recurrences between one to five years. Among workers, this leads to disabilities and reduce job performance, impacting the economy. Neck pain that continues longer than three months is called chronic neck pain. This research aims to compare the effectiveness of yoga-based exercises and static stretching on functional disability and pain in patients with chronic neck pain. This randomized controlled trial study was conducted at Al Jannat Physiotherapy centre in Kot Addu. Two study groups with 15 patients in each group. Group A were administered with Yoga exercises, whereas Group B administered with static stretching. The treatment lasted 30 minutes per session, three times per week for four weeks. Neck Disability Index (NDI) and Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) used to assess functional disability and pain at baseline and after 4th Week. Data were analyzed by using SPSS version-25. Within-group analysis showed significant differences between baseline and 4th week values for all outcome measures in both groups. Between-group analysis showed that yoga exercises was found to be statistically significantly more effective in managing pain and functional disability by the end of 4th Week (p value <0.05). These results indicated that incorporating yoga exercises into a rehabilitation program may provide added benefits in enhancing physical wellbeing in chronic neck pain.
