Abstract

Uterine fibroids are among the most prevalent benign tumors in women of reproductive age, often complicating pregnancy and delivery. This study explores the clinical patterns, anatomical distribution, delivery outcomes, and maternal complications associated with fibroids during pregnancy. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 112 pregnant women diagnosed with uterine fibroids. Data were collected on fibroid type, location, number, gestational age at delivery, mode of delivery, cesarean section indications, and maternal complications. Sub-serous fibroids were the most prevalent (65.18%), followed by sub-mucous (25.89%) and intra-mural types (8.93%). The fundus was the most common site of fibroid localization (77.68%). Over half of the patients (50.89%) had two to three fibroids. Most deliveries occurred at term (37–40 weeks, 75.89%), while cesarean section was the dominant delivery mode (62.50%). PROM with a poor Bishop score (21.43%) was the leading indication for cesarean section. The most frequent maternal complications included threatened preterm labor (22.32%), blood transfusions (19.64%), and threatened miscarriage (17.86%). Uterine fibroids significantly influence pregnancy outcomes, increasing the likelihood of cesarean delivery and maternal complications. Early diagnosis and tailored antenatal care are essential for minimizing risks and improving maternal-fetal health in women with fibroids.
