Abstract

This study investigated how diabetic patients perceived their satisfaction with treatment based on their primary care experience. The study utilized cross-sectional methodology and purposive selection on diabetic patients for data collection. The method of collecting satisfaction with treatment was a demographic questionnaire; the primary care attribute was assessed by way of General Practice Assessment Questionnaire- R. An independent samples t-test assessed whether satisfaction with treatment was statistically different between satisfied or dissatisfied patients based on the number of primary care attributes. Levene’s test showed that the equal variance assumption was not violated. The means and standard deviations indicated that satisfied patients had significantly greater mean primary care attributes than dissatisfied patients: 130.77 (SD = 28.56) compared to 102.96 (SD = 23.19), and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups, t(238) = 5.63, p < .001. Additionally, the results suggest that the overall delivery of primary care for diabetic patients affects their satisfaction. The study highlights the need for primary care attributes to be improved to provide diabetic patients with a better experience and outcome from the health care system
