Abstract

Background: Nurses play a vital role in improving patient care through counseling, which fosters trust, reduces anxiety, and empowers patients to actively participate in their treatment. Effective communication enables better understanding of diseases and treatment options, leading to enhanced health outcomes and patient satisfaction.

Materials and Methods: This qualitative study, guided by the interpretivism philosophy and a cross-sectional design, utilized convenient sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted with ten nurses—two males and eight females—at a tertiary healthcare hospital.

Results: Interview findings revealed that both male and female nurses demonstrated a strong understanding of patient counseling and education. Participants emphasized the importance of guidance, empathy, and effective communication in improving care quality and patient trust.

Conclusion: Nurses’ counseling significantly contributes to patient-centered care by fostering trust, understanding, and compliance, thereby improving the overall quality of tertiary healthcare services.
